CYA

Having destroyed a tube bumper and turning my rear cross member into a pretzel I decided that it was time to build something a little bit stronger. I will admit though that I may have went just a bit overboard on this mod but man does it ever work well. My original plan was to build it out of 2"X4"X1/4" steel tube but after some measuring I realized that my trailer electrical plug was too big. I decided to go with a 3"X4"X1/4" steel tube instead. This size worked out perfectly. Ace welder Bill Duty once again helped me out on this project. We measured and cut the main pice off at the width of the body and then capped the ends with 1/4" plate. A hole was cut and the electrical connector was recessed, we also cut a hole dead center and recessed the hitch off of my old bumper. Nice, tight and clean. I grabbed my sledge hammer and proceeded to coax my cross member back into shape we then welded the bumber on place. Once solid bead across the top, three shorter ones across the bottom and a good coat of paint and we were done. This is one solid bumper, I have hit this thing hard enough to give you double vision and got nothing more than a scratch. I swear to God it's the only thing hold my Jeep together.

100 years from now someone will run across this old bumper in a junkyard with a rusted frame rail attached to it and wonder what it was attached to.
