The roll cage was built using the factory
main hoop which was three pieces: the two sides and the bar across the
top. This bar was bolted with two Torx bolts from the factory. These bolts
were removed and the whole bar welded in place. The two angled down bars
on the sides were added as well as the cross bar that is overhead, in the
rear.
The two factory windshield support tubes were tossed in favor of a thicker walled tube and they were also welded in place. A mounting foot resembling the factory unit was made in order to keep the windshield bolted at the top. The two front down tubes get extremely close to the dash and doors but they don't interfere with anything. They do, however, scratch a small portion of the window when folding it inside. Add a cross bar across the top of the windshield, two support bars running front to rear over the top and a spreader bar over the dash and you now have a cage that should be nice and strong. |
